Alkagesta took part in the Commodities Innovation Awards 2026 in Geneva as a Bronze sponsor, according to a report published by the company. Executive and non-executive board members represented the business at the event, which brought together participants from the commodities trading industry to recognise innovation and achievement across the sector.
The awards were jointly developed by Ampersand World and Swiss business magazine Bilan. Their focus is the Swiss commodities industry, recognising both business achievements and new approaches to challenges facing the global economy. According to Alkagesta’s account, the event provides a setting for the industry to highlight solutions emerging from commodities businesses, alongside the recognition of individual and corporate achievement.
The 2026 programme covered seven categories: technological innovation, finance innovation, market and trading innovation, sustainability innovation, shipping innovation, supply chain and logistics innovation, and a special jury award. A Personality of the Year award was also included. The range of categories placed trading, finance and technology alongside shipping and logistics within the same awards programme, with sustainability recognised as a separate area of innovation.
For Alkagesta, Geneva is also an operational base rather than solely the venue for an industry gathering. The company said the city houses its biofuels and chartering desks and is central to its European operations. It presented the sponsorship as reflecting its belief that innovation, collaboration and institutional relationships are important to the commodities industry’s response to geopolitical disruption, energy transition pressures and increasingly complex supply chains.
The company placed its participation in the context of its wider activities during 2026, saying it had entered additional commodity areas, expanded sustainable fuels infrastructure and strengthened its presence in European and Asian markets. Alkagesta described the Swiss commodities community as an important source of partnerships supporting its longer-term growth.
